North Florida Snorkeling & Diving:
Fresh Water Springs:
There are more than 120 dive able springs, sinks and clear water rivers in North Florida. They each have their own unique character and captivating mystique. The springs are characterized by cool, crystal clear, water year around. The temperature of the water is a constant 72 degrees year around. Bass, brim, mullet, carp, catfish, bow fish, fresh water flounder, tarpon, all types of turtles, and manatees are just some of the animals that inhabit these beautiful springs and rivers.
Salt Water:
North Florida's extensive lime stone ledges and three decades of artificial reef drops have produced sites teaming with life. It's not uncommon to have visibility determined by the day's fish population. All sites are at least 10 miles of shore, which provides a minimum depth of 60 feet. Local visibility is 20 to 40 feet with the occasional 40-60. The diving season is May-Sept. North Florida salt water diving is typically only done in those months.
The Saint Augustine, Florida area does not offer a charter dive boat for offshore diving. The closest dive charter boat is in Daytona.
